Styled Bridal Shoot @ The View Hotel

One of the most rewarding things about being a wedding photographer and videographer is that you get to work alongside other vendors with similar passions and skills. Over the past couple of years I've been getting to know Zoltan Kecskes from The Soul Of My Lens. Zoltan is not only a great guy, but also a highly skilled wedding photographer based locally in East Sussex.

On February 17th 2022, Zoltan organised a styled bridal shoot with models Marc London and Iolaa, with makeup artist Chloe Campbell, assistant photographer Lilly Knight, a beautiful dress provided by Fross Wedding Collections, a sharp suit from Dickies Menswear and a stunning bouquet from Flowers of Eastbourne.

Loken (my partner) and I are in the process of editing the behind the scenes film from the shoot, which we can't wait to share with you all! In the meantime, read below as we explore how the shoot unfolded...

The shoot started in one of the conference spaces, where gear was prepped and MUA Chloe worked her magic on the models...

We all headed down to the lobby where Zoltan got cracking with some couple shots with the help of Lilly on flash & modifiers...

Iolaa and Marc have worked together in the past, so it was nice to see them feeling comfortable to have a laugh in-between shots too.

It's always entertaining to see people's reactions to a styled wedding portrait shoot, as they often think it's an actual married couple having the pictures taken. You'll hear 'aww' sounds and some will even stop by to congratulate them. It does make me laugh, I can't lie!

The lobby in the View Hotel is a remarkably fitting place for portraits, with warm overhanging lampshades that brought out the best in our models' tanned skin tones. Yet, with such extensive sunlight coverage thanks to the windowed wall panels on the south-eastern side of the space, there was a good balance to the overall colour temperature.

Clinking glasses and the soft whir of coffee machines - The next spot for Iolaa and Marcs to make themselves at home was the bar...

We didn't spend long here, but the depth and curvature of the space made for great framing of Marc and Iolaa while we were here. Make sure to check out Zoltan's final shots linked at the bottom of the page!

Last but not least, we shot Iolaa and Marc in the company of The View's phenomal spiral staircase...

As an interior spectacle, it makes a great photo on its own. But, having our model bride and groom made a nice and arty shot, one with a story and purpose that Zoltan can now use for his portfolio.

When I'm not shooting photographs and films for weddings, getting involved in styled shoots both as a photographer and behind the scenes documentarian is my bread and butter. Make sure to keep an eye out for any future occassions like this one that make the blog!

Keep an eye out for our BTS vlog-umentary coming soon, and check out Zoltan's images on his Instagram page: https://www.instagram.com/thesoulofmylens_photography/
